Did you know that it is estimated that cervical screening prevents at least 2,000 deaths in the UK every year1 and that through regular screening and vaccination, cervical cancer is highly preventable2.

We want to help make cervical cancer a disease of the past but we also know you may feel anxious or worried about attending your screening appointment. We believe that talking openly about cervical cancer screening, and sharing previous experiences, can help reduce fear and anxiety.

Cervical screening is important for all people with a cervix aged 25 to 64 to help prevent cervical cancer. HPV testing is part of cervical screening. It checks for HPV – a group of common viruses that can lead to cervical cancer3.

In the UK and Ireland you'll receive a letter inviting you to book a cervical screening appointment. If you don't receive or have lost your letter, there is no need to wait for another one to arrive, you can simply book a screening appointment with your GP3,4.
